This is a new interest group called Tech Made Easy, aimed at helping members gain confidence with everyday technology.  Ray Atherton, who has a background in IT, has volunteered to coordinate this group.

The group does focus on practical, real-world issues such as using a new phone, laptop, tablet, smart TV or smart watch, managing data, improving Wi-Fi performance, understanding spam, and similar topics. Sessions run once a month and follow a simple format:

  • a short talk of around 20 minutes on a specific topic,
  • followed by a Q&A and hands-on help led by a knowledgeable facilitator.

Attendance at each session is open to all Pontesbury and Rea Valley u3a members, who could come along whenever they felt the need, space permitting.

However, numbers are limited to 10 per session, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis for each session.

Please note that places must be booked in advance, as we’re unable to accommodate walk-ins.

We are also looking for a small number of IT-capable volunteers who would be willing to help support Ray during the break-out groups during sessions. You don’t need to be an expert - just confident and patient, with a willingness to help others. You would not necessarily need to attend every session.

Also, to help shape the most appropriate content of Tech Made Easy, we’d love your input. Are there any tech topics or challenges you’d like us to cover - especially areas you find confusing or concerning?

If you are interested, could you please register your interest or volunteer to help with Ray on the link above.
