The Cafe Society group meets once a month for a jolly good' discussion. We can't quite afford to meet in a Parisien Cafe so we now meet in the delightful Mytton Arms. Topics for discussion are usually sent out in advance and cover a wide range of topics. We try not to be too controversial (difficult these days!) but like to keep up to date with our topics.

We discuss over coffee and biscuits and are very happy to welcome new members. If you would like to know more then contact the coordinator by clicking on the link above.

Several topics or just one topic can be discussed at a session, from light-hearted to serious in a friendly and lively manner. To give you a flavour, here are some of our latest discussion topics:

  • The problems with social media
  • Television trends
  • Whether abstinence is good for us
  • Whether narcissism is a new phenomenon
  • Free speech
  • Home schooling
  • Why is Pontesbury a good place to live?
  • Is the desire for continuous improvement a good thing?
  • Should Doctor Who be male?
  • What can be done to improve our high streets?
  • The best holiday you had and why
  • Is 24 hour news a positive feature of the modern world?
