Pontesbury & Rea Valley u3a was formed in 2017 and has rapidly become a thriving u3a with over 200 members.

The village of Pontesbury is part of the Rea Valley and is situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There are three substantial villages (Pontesbury, Minsterley and Hanwood) and a number of smaller villages (Westbury, Worthen, Longden, Plealey, Stiperstones, Snailbeach, Habberley) and hamlets, as well as the lovely open countryside of the South Shropshire Hills.

We welcome members from all parts of the district or adjoining districts. The Rea Valley is close to the nearby county town of Shrewsbury and the Welsh border.

Information about our u3a is also available in the Pontesbury Community Library in The Pavilion on Hall Bank.

Pontesbury & Rea Valley u3a has over 20 interest groups ranging from cycling and table tennis to history and creative writing. If sufficient members are interested, new groups can be started.

In addition to the Interest Groups, we hold regular Open Meetings where members meet socially and enjoy presentations and activities on a wide range of subjects. These events are also open to non-members.

Have a look at our Events page for more information.
