Pontesbury & Rea Valley u3a has a wide range of over 20 interest groups. In order to sign up for our interest groups you must be a member of the Pontesbury & Rea Valley u3a.

These can be educational, physical, artistic or social - or even a good mixture of these! Whatever the focus, you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.

Our smallest groups can be just a handful of members; the largest can exceed 40 members.

The groups decide how often and where they will be meeting, whether this be:

  • in public buildings, where the rental cost is shared between the interest group members
  • home-based, either at the Coordinator's house or other group member's house
  • outings or visits, where any access cost is paid individually

There is no formal qualification to join - just a keen interest to learn. Likewise, the Coordinators, who are volunteers from our membership, do not have to have any formal qualification although some do.

However, if you are not a u3a member, we encourage you to "try before you buy" before you join. This is limited to two free taster sessions to one of our Interest Groups. Please contact the relevant group coordinator in advance before attending, as space may be limited.

The groups and their coordintors can obtain support from both our Groups' Facilitator - Existing groups and the u3a subject advisor from the national u3a office.

We are always keen to introduce new groups, so if you can't find what you are looking for, or a group is full or you would like to suggest the possibility of a new group, please contact the Groups' Facilitor responsible for setting up new groups.

We can then ask others if they would also be interested in forming a group around your topic.

If you would be willing to lead a new group then so much the better. There is plenty of help available from the Groups' Facilitator - New and the u3a subject advisor from the national u3a office. Coordinators are valued as the life-blood of our u3a and it is a great way to met new people.

Here is a list of potential groups that we are currently investigating. Please contact the Groups' Facilitator for new groups below or the contact given in the relevant page if you are interested.
