The Walking and Rambling group walk anywhere in the beautiful Shropshire Hills mostly between Pontesbury to Bishops Castle and from Cardington to Priest Weston. Occasionally we have a trip to the coast or try a mountain. We don’t avoid hills and get out in all weathers year round. Our walks are usually around 6 to 7 miles and we walk at the pace of the slowest in the group, there is no pressure to be the first up that hill!

Although the group is quite large there’s usually between 6 to 12 who attend. That means you’re able to chat with everyone on the ramble if you want to. As you might expect, there’s a core of walkers who don’t miss many walks and others who dip in and out according to their mood (and the weather).

It’s a friendly bunch of people from many backgrounds and parts of the country so each walk is a fun and learning experience. We tend to look into the local history, legends, wildlife and fauna so it’s also a great way to find out more about our local environment. And of course, it’s the best way to stay fit and agile.

New members are always welcome so why not join us and experience our amazing county with new friends?
