Pontesbury & Rea Valley u3a hold several types of meetings, those run by the committee (including Open Meetings) and those held by the individual interest groups. All events and activities for the month are summarised here:

Jonathan Walton presenting on Antarctica at an Open Meeting

Open meetings are a way for all of our members to meet up together and for potential new members to get to know us. We usually have an Open Meeting on a monthly basis at Minsterley Parish Hall with meetings taking place on the third Wednesday in the month starting at 2.00pm.

Open Meetings often involve a speaker, sometimes someone from within our own u3a group, on other occasions someone unknown to us. Occasionally the meetings involve discussion amongst the participants and sometimes we showcase our interest groups.

We call them meetings but they are more of a social event, with refreshments and an opportunity to chat and catch up with friends once the main part of the meeting has finished.

We have a range of fascinating speakers covering a range of interests. Here are some examples of previous talks:

Each interest group holds its own meetings; whether on a weekly, bi-weekly or monhly basis. These could be in a local hall or meeting room, the coordinator's house or an outing or other venue.

Topics under discussion are sometimes published in advance in the newsletter and the groups often welcome other u3a members to attend any specific talks under discussion. However, please contact the relevant group coordinator in advance, as space may be limited.

If you are not a u3a member, we encourage you to "try before you buy" before you join. This is limited to two free taster sessions to one of our Interest Groups. Please contact the relevant group coordinator in advance before attending, as space may be limited.

Don't forget there are a host of online events organised by the national office free to u3a members:
